Trump Supporters Line The Streets On Foot And In Cars

The one of five planned car parades by Trump supporters in the area was on Saturday in Downtown Kansas City.

This first event has had varied reactions with Trump supporters being happy to express their support and others want to vote him out of office.

The parade began at the National WWI Museum before heading down main street to the Plaza.

It was said to have had over 1,000 supporters. During the parade, they honked and chanted “four more years.”

Near the end of the event, President Trump announced his pick to fill the supreme court seat of late Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Trump chose Amy Coney Barrett.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver called the nomination a “miscarriage of honesty.”

One protestor at the event, Shonda Garrison, believes their decision to move forward is “disappointing but not surprising.”

“It’s up to Democrats to hold the floor and up to us to vote him out,” stated Garrison. Some Republicans and Trump supporters are upset with how Democrats are reacting to Trump’s pick.

“I think that the Democrats have shown that they will scorch the Earth in order to hurt Trump,” stated John Thelem, Kansas City Resident.

Thelem stated “we’re sick and tired of being called racist.”

One Kansas City resident, Si’Myia Harris, states she doesn’t believe all Trump supporters are racist, but that a lot of them are.

“A lot of Trump supporters are racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, and etc., so it’s associated with them.”

Rep. Cleaver stated that there will eventually be a Democratic controlled senate.

“There will probably be some kind of response to this,” stated Cleaver. “And every response will be an escalation.”

Though the majority of Trump supporters are seemingly older, there were some young faces in the crowd including a girl who is 17.

She stated that she believes it is important to see that there are people who are with her. She also wanted to show her support for Trump.

The parade was met with a small number of protestors, but the majority of those who are against Trump were not there.

Some went to social media to voice their opinion and concerns about Trump and the car parades.

Several users on Reddit, a social media platform, have stated that it is better to avoid giving them attention.

“The group parading in expensive vehicles for the man in power already doesn’t need any more amplification,” stated one Reddit user who prefers to stay anonymous. “The group marching feet to the pavement fighting for their lives is in need of your powerful voice; make sure it carries.”

There are more events to come after this, including another car parade on October 10 in Overland Park and another October 17 on I-435.
