CARES Acts Benefits Ending, HEROES Act in the Works

The CARES Act has been in affect for some time now. The supplemental assistance that helped with eviction relief ended and eviction notices can now be given to those in federally backed housing.
Unemployment benefits will come to an end soon as well. On July 31, the extra $600 payments will expire.
The CARES Act ,which went into effect in March, provides assistant to individuals as well as businesses. The HEROES Act also known as the new CARES Act was passed by the House of Representative in May, three months ago, and is currently waiting to be voted on in the Senate.
The Senate is back in session, but only until August 7 before they recess again until September 8. There is some pressure on the Senate to pass the HEROES Act to provide extra aid to individuals and businesses.
The HEROES Act will provide another stimulus check.
This second stimulus check would give $1,200 to those earning $75,000 or less a year. Couples earning $150,000 or less could receive $2,400. The act would also pay $1,200 per dependent for up to three dependents. This could include adult dependents. The act would extend the unemployment benefits of the CARES Act until March 2021.
The act would also extend the pause of student loans through September 2021 and could cancel up to $10,000 for some.
This act would also include a hazard pay that would give essential workers extra on top of their regular pay through the end of this year.
Republicans in the Senate want to see how earlier allocated funds are being spent before taking additional legislative action.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi is expecting a deal to before their next recess.
If a decision is not made before Aug. 7, their next session begins Sept. 8 and lasts until Sept. 25. This session would be the next available time for them to work on the bill.
