Humans vs Zombies is a sort of live action role play that typically happens on college campuses.

Humans vs Zombies is a weeklong survival game sponsored by the Live Action Society of Missouri State University. The Live Action Society is an alternative recreation club that hosts a variety of game, with their most popular being Humans vs Zombies. The main objective of the game is to end the zombie apocalypse on campus. Almost everyone is allowed to play. You are required to be 18 and over, or 16 with a parent’s permission. There is typical daily play as well as night missions starting on Wednesday and ending Saturday. At the beginning of the game, all players are human except for one. Each human can defend themselves with an approved foam dart blaster or with socks; this stuns zombies for five to ten seconds. Tagged humans become zombies and are able to hunt an hour after being tagged.
One of the participants, Emily Mehan, played Humans vs Zombies for the first time. One of her friends played a previous year and told her about the fun she had, so Mehan decided to play. She made it the whole week without being turned, but she didn’t participate in the final challenge. To keep herself from being turned, she avoided the areas that zombies gathered in. She also got help from other humans to help her travel between classes. She hadn’t explored the campus prior to the game, so she was able to discover buildings she had never seen before. Though she has not participated in any other live action games, she is willing to try because of her experience with Humans vs Zombies.
Humans vs Zombies allows people to get to know each other in a different way. People who may not have interacted before are now getting to know each other as they are working together to end the zombie apocalypse on campus. Since it is a campus wide game, people find more locations on campus that they have never came across. The game is about teamwork and those who have played would recommend other people to play because of the fun they had.
